I’ve heard mixed reviews on this deep conditioner (actually the whole product line), but I was excited to get two samples of some of their products at a natural hair event in NYC a couple of months ago. The Super SweetBack deep conditioner has lots of slip and detangling was a breeze – – on wet hair. Trying to rake this product in on dry hair was a pain only because the sample wasn’t enough for my whole head. So I had to apply Beautiful Textures Rapid Repair deep condish on areas I missed. I left the Super SweetBack deep condish (and BT Rapid Repair) in for an hour and rinsed it out with luke warm water. Fingers went through the hair like butter, lawd! I checked the website to see how much it cost and omgosh, the deep conditioner is good but not that dang good to shell out $48 for a 16oz.
Every year around the holidays Thanksgiving into the New Year, Miss Jessies would have a BOGO sale in Target, buy one get one FREE. This might sound enticing for most but for me, it just doesn’t add up. Super Sweetback is one of the most expensive on the site along with their other deep treatment Rapid Recovery. For me, it’s just not worth spending $48 on only two products during their BOGO sale.
The Scent: Smells like sweet children’s cough syrup, but it’s tolerable.
The Texture: Thick
Will I purchase? Nah. Not at that price. I’d definitely get it at half off.
