What it claims:
• Intensely moisturizes skin
• Protects against daily environmental stress on the hands
• Helps to even skin tone
Desert Essence breaks down key ingredients:
– A high concentration of organic oils and extracts provide intense moisture to the skin and aid in the repair process.
– Organic Jojoba Oil, similar in structure to our skin’s oils, deeply penetrates the skin, leaving it soft and supple.
-Organic Pumpkin Seed Oil, with high levels of Vitamins A, C, E, and K, plus zinc, helps combat daily environmental stress on the hands.
-A proprietary blend of Organic Pumpkin Seed and Licorice Leaf Extracts helps to even skin tone and fade the appearance of age spots on the hands.
First off, let’s talk about the packaging… it kind of sucks. The labeling is off. Instead of it being centered it’s more towards the left, as you see in the picture above.
The bottle is a flip top cover that can stand and for some weird reason, when I have it up right it leaks. As soon as I flip-open the cover, lotion spills over.
As for the performance of the moisturizer, I haven’t used it long enough to see a difference. It does absorb well into the skin and is moisturizing but my hands doesn’t stay moisturized for long. My skin gets very oily in the warmer months and super dry when it’s cold. So I had to reapply this lotion quite often during the day. But with the Kukui Cocoa Body Butter by Andalou Naturals, twice is enough (morning and night) but I will review that product in another post (love it). I do use this hand cream after I wash my hands and the dishes.
It has a light creamy texture. Not too thick or watery.
When I first smelled it, I picked up the pumpkin scent mixed with a weird alcohol scent. So this made me read the ingredients again. The third ingredient is SD Alcohol 38-B that isn’t a harming ingredient-but I wish they would’ve bumped it down second to last on the list.
Will I purchase again? Nope
I purchased this at Vitacost.com. You can also get it at DesertEssence.com
